The chronicles of mechanics were hired out of high school - sometimes even before they finished high school -
and trained for the job. The evolution of automobile today has brought more sophistication to the job, with intensive dependence on advanced computer system.
This has resulted to employers looking for applicants who have some form of postsecondary understanding of how the system works. Once hired, they still undergo a lengthy process of on-the-job training.

Auto service mechanics perform duties according to its variety. Some cases some customers bring their vehicles for routine maintenance such as changing of oil and filters and rotating the tires.
Some other cases, some may need repair work. There must be a diagnostic tests to identify the problems and fix them.
The job of the technicians vary, some may specialize in replacements of parts, others on electrical and computer systems.
